Levels and requirements of the Google Partner Program
The Google Partner Program comprises three membership levels: Member, Partner and Premier Partner. Each level offers specific benefits and opportunities to deepen the partnership with Google. To achieve Google Partner status, companies must meet certain criteria in the areas of performance, spend and certifications.
Performance
The performance criteria ensure that an agency effectively sets up and optimizes Google Ads campaigns. This is demonstrated by an optimization factor of at least 70 % in the registered Google Ads management account. The optimization factor indicates how well an account is managed according to Google Ads best practices.
Expenditure
In order to maintain partner status, the accounts managed by the agency must have continuous advertising spend of a certain amount over a period of 90 days. Historically, this value has been 10,000 US dollars, with an adjustment to 20,000 euros in some regions from mid-2022. This threshold can be a challenge for smaller agencies.
Certifications
At least 50 % of the Account Strategists assigned to the registered Google Ads management account must be certified for Google Ads. At least one certification is required in each product area (e.g. Search, Display, Video, Shopping, Apps) with advertising expenditure of over 500 US dollars within 90 days. These certifications demonstrate the employees' current expertise in the various Google Ads products.
