Sistrix

Sistrix is a well-established software solution in the field of search engine optimisation (SEO) and online marketing. Founded in Germany in 2008, the company has, with its toolbox, become a standard tool for analysing and optimising the online visibility of websites. The platform enables users to comprehensively assess the performance of their website on search engines such as Google and to derive targeted optimisation strategies.

The Sistrix Visibility Index as a core metric

The central and best-known feature of the Sistrix Toolbox is the so-called Visibility Index. This proprietary metric was developed by Sistrix to quantify a domain’s organic visibility in Google search results. Since its introduction in 2008, it has been regarded as the gold standard for measuring success in the field of SEO.

The Visibility Index is calculated on the basis of an extensive database comprising millions of keywords. Sistrix tracks and analyses the ranking positions of domains for this representative set of keywords on a daily or weekly basis. Factors such as the search volume of the keywords and the expected click-through rate for each position are taken into account. A higher index value correlates with a stronger and more relevant presence in search results. The index is compiled for both desktop and mobile search results in over 40 countries and enables detailed long-term monitoring of SEO performance.

How the Sistrix Toolbox works and its modules

The Sistrix Toolbox has a modular structure and offers a wide range of functions covering various areas of search engine optimisation and digital marketing. The main modules include:

  • SEO module: This is the centrepiece of the toolbox and offers comprehensive functions for keyword research, competitor analysis and monitoring your own rankings.
  • Links module: Enables a detailed backlink analysis to assess a website’s link structure, identify high-quality links and detect potential risks posed by harmful links.
  • Ads module: Used to analyse and optimise paid search campaigns (SEA) and to monitor competitors in the Google Ads space.
  • Social module: Provides insights into a brand’s performance and reach on social media.
  • Optimizer module: Assists with technical on-page optimisation and content optimisation. It identifies technical weaknesses such as broken links, redirect loops or missing meta tags, and helps to improve content.

Sistrix is used by SEO professionals, digital marketing agencies, content creators and brand managers, particularly in European markets. It enables users to identify keyword gaps, analyse competitors’ strategies and assess the impact of Google algorithm updates on their own domain. The cost of using the service starts at around 99 euros per month, with a free visibility check available for every domain.
